#flowerboys

#flowerboys is a photo series inspired by an incident where a friend hesitated to gift flowers to a male due to perceived gender norms. This moment highlighted the deep-seated cultural expectations and definitions surrounding masculinity and femininity that persist in society. Through this project, I aim to challenge the traditional association of flowers with femininity and explore the fluidity between masculine and feminine expressions.

Echoing the words of Alexander Den Heijer, “When a flower does not blossom, you fix the environment, not the flower itself,” this series seeks to provoke thought and encourage a societal shift towards a more inclusive environment where self-exploration and expression are not merely accepted but actively fostered and celebrated. #flowerboys portrays individuals in contexts that defy conventional gender roles, aiming to inspire and nurture a society receptive to all forms of expression.
